La légende
Au IVᵉ siècle, Sainte Lucie, une jeune noble de Syracuse, obtint la guérison miraculeuse de sa mère grâce à ses prières à la Vierge Marie. Dévouée corps et âme à sa foi, elle s’arracha les yeux pour éloigner ses prétendants. La Vierge lui rendit alors la vue et lui donna des yeux encore plus beaux et lumineux.
